Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) is high blood pressure in the lungs, causing breathlessness and fatigue. The diagnosis of PAH is often delayed or missed in the early stages of disease due to the non-specific nature of common symptoms.
Early diagnosis of PAH is vital, with intervention at this point likely to delay disease progression and improve patient outcomes.
The PAH multi-disciplinary clinic aims to reduce the delay to diagnosis and to provide specialist care tailored to patient needs. Due to the complexity of the diagnosis and management of PAH, the prescription of PAH specific therapies has been restricted to clinicians experienced in managing PAH.
